Removing Some Of The Mystery Around LinkedIn Job Advertisements

Poor Offboarding

I recently found an interesting insight into the way LinkedIn job advertisements worked.

To illustrate, I’ve taken a job advertisement that was automatically suggested by LinkedIn.

In this case, according to LinkedIn’s Premium Service I rank about 50%.

According to LinkedIn when viewing a job posted on the site, Job Seeker Premium account holders have access to a feature that compares their profile to others who have applied for the job.

The feature only appears if more than 10 applicants have applied for the job. This is done to protect the privacy of the people who applied and to make the data meaningful.

When that happens, LinkedIn provides a message like this:

Assuming the threshold number of people apply, then the percentage rank provided is an estimate based on assumptions about profile information like experience and education, and how it likely relates to the posted job.

What was interesting was the change in my score when the content including keywords in my LinkedIn profile was authentically edited with the keywords that the LinkedIn advertiser set as selection criteria.

LinkedIn suggests that job seekers add additional skills to your profile and also improve their edit your profile to reflect all of your education and experience.

There is nothing wrong with this, as long as you are doing so authentically.

What this highlights are:

1. Your LinkedIn profile that needs to be an ever continual process.

2. Your chances to be considered by Recruiters and Hiring Managers is a strong function of your LinkedIn profile.

3. Keywords that are vital to your job seeking success on LinkedIn.

I’d suggest that if you were a job seeker, you upgrade to enjoy this very insightful tool.
