Apple, Google, and Your Personal Brand

When Google faced off with Apple in the smartphone world, as tempting as it might have been, Google didn’t ask, “How can we differentiate from Apple?”

Rather, my guess was that they thought: “How can we be more like us? How can we bring more of ourselves into the work that we do?”

One of the reasons it is hard to copy a truly excellent brand is due to the fact that they have put so much of themselves into their work. It’s in the brand and company DNA.

Each of these brands show up uniquely by being more of who they are.

No outstanding brand became outstanding by trying to copy another.

People don’t want another ‘genuine imitation.’  Instead, people want to relate to and experience you and the meaning you bring to your work.

There’s no more authentic and real way to be different than to be exactly who you are.

Who are you?

What is your Personal Brand?
